Common questions
- What does LectureSync need to run? macOS 26 or later on an Apple Silicon Mac.
- Does my audio leave my Mac? Not unless you choose it. Transcription and note writing run on your Mac out of the box. If you connect your own cloud account for notes, the app tells you before anything is sent, once per course. Details in the privacy policy.
- Where are my notes? They're plain Markdown files in a folder you choose. They open in anything, including Obsidian, and they're yours even if you remove the app.
- The microphone or screen-audio permission didn't appear. Check System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Microphone (or Screen & System Audio Recording) and make sure LectureSync is allowed, then relaunch the app.
- A recording or import didn't turn into notes. Each lecture shows its status badge. If one says it failed, open the lecture and use Redo — the saved audio is still there. If it keeps failing, email the details and it will get looked at.
- Refunds. Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds go through Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com.
Reporting a bug
Email info@lecturesync.app with:
- Your macOS version and the app version (LectureSync ▸ About LectureSync)
- What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead
- A screenshot if the problem is visible
Please don't email recordings or transcripts of real classes — a description is enough.
